THE BAND WAGON (1953)

A big fun colorful 1950s musical that actually, for once, bothers to have characters and arcs and things, and also Fred Astaire dance-fights a bunch of guys.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (1951)

A well-produced musical extravaganza starring Gene Kelly, with the music of George Gershwin, it still left me surprisingly cold.

SOME CAME RUNNING (1958)

A mid-century melodrama in which Frank Sinatra plays a soldier returning to a small town. It has some interesting shots but never really rises above its potboiler status.
