Spike Lee’s semiautobiographical depiction of his own childhood feels “true,” but really rubs me the wrong way.

The sequel to this hit Eddie Murphy fish-out-of-water comedy comes out today. I had never seen the original before, but I think it was pretty funny.

This is a drama with an all-Black cast, set deep in Louisiana. I wanted to like it more than I actually did.
