ALL THAT JAZZ (1979)

An “incredibly self-indulgent” sort-of musical in which Bob Fosse “choreographs his own death,” which I gotta say I was absolutely fascinated by.

THE VISITOR (1979)

A truly nuts lost 70s sci-fi(?)/horror(?) classic(?) involving an evil tween, her pet falcon that pecks out people’s eyes, people in wheelchairs getting thrown through large aquariums, dramatic games of Pong, and John Huston slowly walking down the world’s tallest escalator. I love it so much.

KRAMER VS. KRAMER (1979)

Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep fight over custody of a mop-topped little kid who is going to need so much therapy after this.

MANHATTAN (1979)

HOW WAS THIS EVER OK, BABY BOOMERS? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? But the cinematography is pretty and there are a lot of great one-liners.

BEING THERE (1979)

If he acts like a rich white dude and talks like a rich white dude, does it matter if he has no idea what he’s doing?
