I’ve watched a lot of movies that were aggressively not my thing since starting this blog, but oh boy, this was a rough one.

ROMAN HOLIDAY (1953)
Audrey Hepburn is a princess slumming it with Gregory Peck’s American reporter in this high-class 1950s version of the same movie that Netflix has made like ten times already.
DUCK SOUP (1933)
The Marx Brothers got the most freedom of their careers and used it to skewer patriotism, fascism, and war as bum deals for suckers.
GROUNDHOG DAY (1993)
A deep philosophical tract about the meaning of life, in which the main character keeps trying to commit suicide. Also a comedy where a groundhog drives a truck.
8 ½ (1963)
Federico Fellini couldn’t figure out how to make a movie and made a movie about not being able to make a movie. I’m still trying to figure it out.
THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987)
There are very few perfect movies in the world. This is one of them.
DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN (1985)
Madonna’s first major movie role was in this extremely 80s update of the screwball comedy.
DAZED AND CONFUSED (1993)
Teens hang on the last day of school, 1976, in Austin, Texas. Not much happens. Mostly in a good way, I promise.
THE GOLD RUSH (1925)
Charlie Chaplin’s biggest hit is also probably my favorite of his movies that I’ve yet seen.
FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH (1982)
A surprisingly down-to-earth and enjoyable movie about a bunch of 80s teens who have no idea what they’re doing.
